Nikon’s Nikkor Z 600mm F6.3 VR S lens is a lightweight, relatively speaking, super-telephoto prime that feels ideal for wildlife, sports or traveling without monopods or tripods. The lens is 278mm (11″) long and weighs 1,390g (3 lbs), and we had no issues with fatigue hand-holding the lens for hours in the rain. Much of the weight reduction is thanks to using a fresnel lens element, which requires less glass and thus reduces the weight of this long lens (more on that in a moment).
